Saving the environment a tree at a time and talking about climate change can start at an early age.  With Enabling Support Foundation working on a new curriculum which delves into environment and conservation, Grandpa Farouk’s Garden is a brilliant book for early child reading. 

Authored by Sam Vien Riet, Matthew Kalil and Nina Lewis, Grandpa Farouk’s Garden gets into the action of saving the environment by planting trees, flowers wherever one might be and letting children be involved.

Set in the urban developed world, Grandpa Farouk’s tale walks in the world of how much one can do to make the world around them better, livelier and more habitable.  

That’s just not it, the book will move discussions around pest control and organic farming. Topics of which should be covered during early reading.

Difficulty in Early Child Learning? What to Expect from Educators in ESF

The way we teach early reading is the biggest mistake in the history of Education.  It handicaps all children and it’s impossible for the 20 per cent of the population we label  as “dyslexic” Reading is traditionally taught using phonetic decoding or “sounding out”.  It is a long process as the child learns the names and sounds of the alphabet and combines them into words they can say.  The child is “reading ready” or simply put, already able to read in Primary One (1) But even after with “reading readiness” courses, some children cannot read.  About 20% suffer from a known brain abnormality that interferes with phonetic decoding.
